Target Window

Your ‘Target Window’ is the time period in which your targets are effective. Once you submit a target it becomes effective the first day of the next full quarter. This target will be effective for 4 consecutive quarters. At the end of the 4 quarters you will be reminded to set another target.
  • Quarter 1: January 1-March 31
  • Quarter 2: April 1-June 30
  • Quarter 3: July 1-September 30
  • Quarter 4: October 1-December 31

For example, you submit a target April 20, 2005. It will become effective July 1, 2005. Your ‘Target Window’ is July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2006.

Editing a Target

If at any time after submitting a target and before the beginning of the next quarter, you choose to edit your target, you may log back in to the STAR site and change the target value. The effective dates for the Target Window will remain the same.

For example, you submitted a target April 20, 2005. You have up until June 30th to edit your selected target. You choose to edit the target on May 27, 2005. The Target Window Start will still be July 1, 2005, and the Target Window End is June 30, 2006. Your target is active for 4 quarters: July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2006 (Target Window).

Updating a Target

Targets should be set at a minimum annually, and may be set as often as quarterly. If you choose to update and submit a new target it will become effective the first day of the next full quarter and will remain effective for 4 more quarters.

For example, you submitted a target April 20, 2005 and it became effective July 1, 2005. Your effective target window was July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2006. On September 9, 2005 you decide to update your target and submit a new value on the STAR site. The new value will become effective October 1, 2005. You can edit this value up until September 30, 2005. Your updated target is effective during your new Target Window which is October 1, 2005 – September 30, 2006.
